Representatives from SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital and Mid-America Transplant attended the unveiling of the Inspired by Life wall.

SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital unveiled its Inspired by Life wall Friday morning in partnership with the Mid-America Transplant Foundation. The wall, which includes a monitor that will show organ transplant patients of the hospital, is located near the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).

“We would like to thank the team with the Cardinal Glennon Children’s Foundation for their support and dedication to this project,” said Kevin Lee, Executive Director of the Mid-America Transplant Foundation. “We would be remiss if we didn’t give thanks to the donor family who said yes to the donation that gave a heart to Luke Ryker, because it was really the Ryker family who helped lead us on this path to celebrating life in this way.”

Luke Ryker is a 6-year-old heart recipient from Oklahoma. His family came to Cardinal Glennon for his heart transplant. Luke’s mom, April, spent countless hours in the PICU throughout her son’s heart transplant journey. Her experience generated the idea of the Inspired by Life Wall, which provides hope to those whose loved ones are receiving medical care in the PICU at Cardinal Glennon.

“It’s an honor and privilege for us to partner with such a world-class organization like Cardinal Glennon,” Lee said. “To even have our logo accompany their logo is a great honor because Cardinal Glennon has such a regional and national impact for so many families. We look forward to partnering with them for many years to come.”
