DeAnna received skin tissue for breast reconstruction following a double mastectomy after testing positive for the BRCA1 mutation for breast cancer.

“It is a surreal feeling knowing that another human being’s death has given me a chance at a longer life. Without the surgeries and the tissue I received, life would not be safe for me. I am grateful to that person for their way of giving back. It forces me to think about my own mortality and what I want at my death. I will be a tissue donor.”
