Michael 'Tre' Goodlow III was born September 4th 2015. Tre was a very smart & happy little boy. He started walking at 8 months running at 1, potty trained by 2, and his vocabulary was far past a 4 year old's' vocabulary!! We were so proud to be his parents. He loved his family, friends, and anyone that would play with him, his infant little sister Olivia, running and jumping off of any and everything thing, Fried Rice, honeybuns, Spaghetti, Gatorade, water and Marvel's, mainly SPIDERMAN! On July 4th, 2020, his dad and I decided to take him to his cousins house to pop a few fireworks before heading to maw maw's house to pop the rest. Before the 4th of July, Tre had been stuck in the house and was limited to activities because of Covid. As parents we decided with close supervision and masking up to let him get out the house for a little. He ran around with a huge smile happy to be out the house and with his favorite cousin Mehki. His last words to me was, "Mommy it's lit!" with a tight hug! He ran off; shortly after Mehki was about to light a firework so dad yelled for Tre to come to him. Moments later Tre fell face down on the ground! Dad yelled for Tre to get up. He didn't move. We thought maybe he had a concussion from falling. He'd hurt himself running practicing superhero and ninja moves all the time but this wasn't a fixable scar. We picked him up didn't see any blood until we took him in the house and laid him on the couch. That's when blood started to rush onto the couch! We rushed him to the hospital. Once we made it to Cardinal Glennon we found out our son had been struck by a stray bullet! My heart dropped! I lost it! I couldn't believe my baby, my 1st born had become a victim of gun violence. So young and innocent. I felt like the worst parent on the planet and still do til this day because as a mother my only job is to love, take care, and protect my baby and I failed! After realizing Tre hadn't survived his gunshot wound we thought donating his organs was the superhero thing to do. We could hear him saying, "Mommy, Daddy, don't be sad I'm going to save lives!" Tre donated his heart, which at the time went to an 8month old girl his kidneys, which went to a 24yr old and 42yr old and his liver. We can't express enough of how proud we are for him! We miss him dearly and it truly warms our hearts to know he helped save several lives and a part of him is still here with us! May he continue to Fly high and watch over us! We love you son!
