I am a Navy Veteran and was diagnosed with Interstitial Lung Disease. During Covid, my lungs took a turn for the worse. I went from 2-4L of oxygen to 10-12L of oxygen. It became difficult to even leave the house. In October of 2022, I was placed on the transplant list. On March 27th, 2023, I received the call and received a double lung transplant. My donor, my hero, was a 57-year-old woman. She and her family saved my life. They made a choice that I know wasn't an easy one. I will forever be grateful. I am able to leave my home and enjoy life again. Because of her, I get to spend time with my family and see them grow. I received the ultimate gift of life.
