My name is Lisa Neal, my husband passed away unexpectedly on Mother’s Day May 14, 2024. This was the worst day of our lives. The phone was ringing nonstop and one call was from Mid- America Transplant. At that moment I felt anger, wanting to know "Why are you calling me at a time like this?" But I came to realize this is the time for them to call.
After discussing this with our four adult children we decided to give a gift of life to someone else in need. We are very thankful that we were able to make this decision and I hope if we’re ever in need someone would make the decision to donate for us. We have many members in our family that are donors and we will continue to educate more. We are still struggling with grief and learning how to navigate through life in our new normal. It’s hard not to miss everything about someone that you spent the last 30 years of your life with. We miss him terribly.
