I was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome and 5 months after having my son, I went into heart failure. Finding that out crushed me because I'd just had my son not long ago and I was scared I wasn’t going to be around. In 2024 I was an inpatient at St. Louis Children’s Hospital in St. Louis waiting for a heart. I was lying In the hospital bed when the doctor came In and told me they found me a heart. I couldn’t believe it and all I could think was to call my mom because we lived about 4 hours away from the hospital. On February 11, 2024 I received my donor's heart and am so thankful for my donor. I recently turned 26 and got to celebrate my son’s 2nd birthday. I couldn’t be more thankful for my donor giving me a 2nd chance at life and to watch my son grow up.
