My name is Breanna. I was born with biliary atresia. At a few months old, I had the Kasai operation and my parents were told that I would probably not live past five without a liver transplant. By the time I was getting ready to turn seven, I was so sick that I was sleeping as much as - if not more than - a newborn baby. We went to meet the transplant team in Omaha, Nebraska, and they immediately put me on the top of the list. On August 22, 1992, I had my liver transplant, and since then I’ve led a great life. I am married and have an amazing job at a Lutheran school working with kids, which is my passion.
